Nikola Tesla O.G. Tee | The Top G

The original Top G lit up the world while everyone else was still in the dark.

Nikola Tesla (1856–1943) was born in Smiljan, in present-day Croatia, and arrived in New York in 1884 with little more than his ideas. He went on to develop the AC induction motor and the polyphase alternating-current system that George Westinghouse licensed and brought to market. AC lit the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, ran the Niagara Falls power plant, and still runs the grid you’re plugged into right now.

He wasn’t handed the win. He stood on the AC side of the “War of the Currents” against Thomas Edison’s direct current, and he died in modest circumstances in a New York hotel room. The work outlived all of it. That’s the lesson for anyone building something today: see what others can’t, do the work before the world agrees with you, and let the results make the argument.
